Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wilko Flügge

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wilko Flügge studied mechanical engineering at the TU Clausthal. In 2002, he received his doctorate from the University of Paderborn on the subject of "Determination of the deformation of self-pierce riveting with semi-tubular rivets of austenitic stainless-steel sheet materials". He worked for Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH from 2002 to 2017, and from 2004 as head of the joining technology department. In 2013 the University of Paderborn awarded him an honorary professor’s chair. In 2017, he was appointed as professor to the Chair of Production Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical and Marine Engineering at the University of Rostock. In 2017, Prof. Flügge took over as head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Large Structures in Production Technology IGP in Rostock.
